Teacher Re-certification

Teacher Re-certification Guidelines

Bachelor’s Degree (one of the following every 5 years)
1) Six (6) Semester Hours of Coursework
2) Ten (10) CEU’s (Continuing Education Units)
3) Five (5) CEU’s and Three (3) Semester Hour Course
Master’s Degree (one of the following every 10 years)
1) Three (3) Semester Hour Course
2) Five (5) CEU’s

Guidelines For Re-certification Courses or CEU’s
1) Complete the semester hours or CEU’s in major field
2) Complete the semester hours or CEU’s in minor field
3) Complete semester hours for additional endorsements
4) Complete semester hours for an advanced degree
5) Only one (1) correspondence course per re-certification period
6) Have never taken the course or a similar course
Note: CEU’s and semester hours must be received from a recognized
regionally accredited college or institution.

NPSA teachers qualify for a lifetime license if their license is current
and:
1) They have taught for twenty-five (25) or more years
2) They are fifty-five (55) years old or older
